System Sizing & Cost

After determining your energy use, obtain a cost estimate for a system to meet your energy needs. There are many online calculators that can be used and compared.
PVWatts®
My Solar and Wind Estimator
These calculators take into consideration your geographic location. However, it's important to also consider the characteristics of your property and if you have a feasible location for installing the panels.

Note that a local professional will be able to give a more accurate estimate, but if you want to try a preliminary analysis on your own, use our site assessment spreadsheet here.   This will determine an approximate system size that fits within your budget.

Some incentives are applied with the calculators. Visit the Policy & Incentives section for additional incentives that may be available. Contact your utility provider to find out their specific net metering offering.
