The Chequamegon Chapter of the Citizens Climate Lobby Presents
Subject: CCL special meeting!
Chequamegon CCL's September meeting will be this coming Tuesday evening, March 20th, at 7 p.m. via Zoom, and we've invited candidates Dick Ausman and Tom Tiffany for the 7th Congressional District seat, candidates Romaine Quinn and Kelly Westlund for the 25th State Senate District seat, and candidates John Adams and Chanz Green for 74th Assembly District seat to join us and share their views on climate change. Check out the email invitation at the bottom of this email. I'm pleased to report that candidates Dick Ausman, Kelly Westlund, and John Adams will be joining us! (Chanz Green's campaign manager has indicated that Chanz has a conflicting commitment, and there has been no response yet from candidates Tiffany or Quinn.) Because Dick Ausman will be on the call, all CCL members in the 7th Congressional District are invited to join us, and we hope that you will! Kelly Westlund's remarks should also be of interest to Birchwood/Blue Hills CCLers in the 25th State Senate District.
Here's the link to join. The passcode is 123. You can also join by phone by calling 1-929-205-6099 and entering the meeting ID, 902-485-9538 and the passcode.
For Chequamegon CCL members, we'll hold our business meeting following the candidate presentations.
This is a great opportunity to hear what the candidates have to say about climate change. I hope we'll have a great turnout!
INVITATION EMAIL:
to Dick Ausman TomTiffany, Romaine Quinn, Kelly Westland, John Adams, Chanz Green,
Hello candidates for Congress Dick Ausman and Tom Tiffany, candidates for State Senate Romaine Quinn and Kelly Westlund, and candidates for Assembly John Adams and Chanz Green.
Greetings from the Chequamegon Chapter of Citizens’ Climate Lobby. As some of you know, Citizens’ Climate Lobby is a nonprofit, non-partisan organization whose members work for legislative action to address climate change. CCL has over 450 chapters nationwide, including 22 in Wisconsin, four of which are in the 7th Congressional District.
The members of our chapter would greatly appreciate getting your thoughts on legislative action to address climate change, and so we’re inviting all of you to attend our next meeting, which will be held on the evening of Tuesday, September 20th, beginning at 7 p.m., via Zoom, to answer the following questions:
1. Are you unconcerned, a little concerned, somewhat concerned, quite concerned, or very concerned about climate change? Please explain.
2. What legislative action(s), if any, should the [next Congress][Wisconsin Legislature] take to address climate change? (If none, why not?)
3. What do you hope/expect any such action to accomplish?
4. How much priority should any such action be given?
5. What else would you like to tell us about yourself?
We are not proposing a debate. Rather, we will simply schedule a ten-minute time slot for each of you to address the questions. No need to join us before your scheduled time slot and or to stay thereafter, though you’re certainly welcome to do so.
The members of our chapter are primarily from Ashland and Bayfield Counties, but if candidates Quinn and/or Westlund will be attending, we’ll also invite members of CCL’s Birchwood/Blue Hills chapter to join us, and if candidates Ausman and/or Tiffany can attend, we’ll extend an invitation to members of our Rib Mountain and St. Croix County CCL chapters as well.
Please let us know whether you’ll be able to attend by reply to this email. If you’re able to do so, we’ll send you a link to join us and let you know of your time slot as soon as we know how many of you will be attending. If you’re unable to join us, we’d greatly appreciate getting your answers to the questions in written form.
Thanks in advance for your consideration. We hope to see you on September 20th!
Sincerely,
Bill Bussey
