Cheq Bay Renewables (CBR) is pleased to announce a new initiative to install solar PV on the roof of the Bayfield Rec Center.
They have received a grant from the Couilliard Foundation’s “Solar for Good” which will donate 50% of the solar panels. We would like to ask the community to support the project by donating funds to purchase the other 50%. The solar panels are large commercial panels that can be purchased for $350 each. Anyone donating enough to buy at least one panel will be recognized in a commemorative plague to be placed on the building when the project is complete.
Our initial goal is to purchase 65 solar panels to have all the panels funded. If you can help, donations may be made in the following ways:
This is a particularly good time for the Rec Center to go solar. They have just invested a substantial amount of money in energy efficiency improvements that will sustain the facility for years to come. The addition of the solar panels will generate 47% of the facilities electricity and save them approximately $7400/year – money that can be used elsewhere to support their mission.
